The 2017 PANTONE color of the year is…Greenery! The color Greenery is full of pop and life and has a vibrant energy, unlike many other greens, which are soft and serene. This yellow-green shade symbolizes the great outdoors and evokes a feeling of springtime when nature’s foliage revives.

In today’s busy, modern world, more and more people are seeking to rejuvenate and reconnect with nature. Colors that represent natural beauty are being brought to the forefront throughout architecture and design. According to PANTONE.com:

“This shift is reflected by the proliferation of all things expressive of Greenery in daily lives through urban planning, architecture, lifestyle and design choices globally.”

How can you incorporate Greenery into your home furnishings? EYA’s Design Consultant, Amanda King, provided this tip: “Trend colors are best incorporated in the layering of accessories. Accent pillows, table settings or décor on bookshelves are inexpensive and effective ways to incorporate trend colors. Layering pops of bright color, like Greenery, on top of subtle neutrals gives a home a sophisticated and layered look.”

We asked Missy Sinsel of award-winning interior design firm Carlyn & Company what colors and textures are best paired with Greenery. She noted: “This color is best paired with colors found in nature, such as bark brown or cotton white. For a brighter palette, it could also be paired with gray and mixed with a brighter yellow, blue or orange. You can easily mix Greenery with lots of textures, from sisal rugs to wood furniture to a mix of metals, including silver, gold or bronze.”

Missy added, “Greenery has a lot of flexibility. It can be incorporated into a traditional interior, as well as a modern setting.”

This lively green is also a great color to incorporate in your outdoor living spaces, such as patios or terraces, by tying nature into the design scheme. Amanda noted: “Pops of green in an outdoor rug or bright green upholstery on outdoor furniture are easy ways to modernize your furnishings.”
